Despite their prior conflict, Valerie approaches Kirby by herself. Valerie informs her that Theo has been taken off the medication and that she would not mislead him, acknowledging that they both care about him.

Theo apologizes profusely for his selfish outburst as he makes his way back home. Even after forgiving him, Valerie won’t give him a prescription. Theo becomes even more hopeless as a result. He requests Valerie’s dealer’s number so he can obtain the pills on his own. Even after her recent talk with Kirby, Valerie feels torn, but in the end, she gives in.

Tane informs Mali of his intention to obtain residency in order to serve as Maia’s emergency foster caregiver in the meantime. Mali confronts Tane with the stark fact that the system is in place and that they won’t change it for him. Tane, though, isn’t going to give up.

Later on in the afternoon, Rose addresses the public for the first time, pleading with Maia’s mother to come forward. She emphasizes that the mother is not in any danger and that the infant is secure and healthy.

Felicity overhears Alf and Roo discussing newborn Maia at Salt. Roo tells her that Tane was the one who discovered the infant. Heading to the hospital in astonishment, Felicity discovers Tane in his element, holding newborn Maia in his arms and serenading her in Māori.

Felicity takes this very personally, especially in light of their past arguments regarding kids. However, Felicity races home thinking about baby Maia after finding that Tane is attempting to apply to be Maia’s emergency caregiver. Opening her laptop, she begins to look up the requirements for applying to be a caregiver.
